Ama is back again with another article for you guys.
In this article, we are discussing the art of being at university or in full-time work and having a side hustle. Now, most of you are wondering how can I make time to have a side hustle and how is this beneficial.
This week we interviewed Steph a.k.a @FLOTUK on the podcast and this inspired me to investigate the advantages of having a side hustle whilst in a semi-secured position.
First and foremost, working for someone does not guarantee you long term security. You have idea what is going on in the internal structure of the company neither are you 100% certain they are happy with your performance. Essentially, the company could either go bust or you can get fired. Sorry but it’s the truth. Subsequently, you may not enjoy the job you are working at and may decide to leave. Wouldn’t you want some security knowing that you?
For university students, a lot of individuals are given a substantial amount of money to which they can live on. However, if you are like me, student finance barely covers my rent and bills, leaving me with air to eat. Working in university can also be very tiring and hard to manage with coursework and deadlines to complete. Once again, a side hustle would be great.
Side hustles are crucial. If they are built correctly this can provide you with self-security knowing that not only will you be making extra stream of income. You can also rely on that income when you are between jobs or travelling.
As we have mentioned in previous articles, a wealth building basic is through building multiple streams of income. SIDE HUSTLES or starting a business are imperative to stop relying on solely one pay check! In our Christmas episode, we mentioned that £20,000 is the average income in the UK and £27,000 in London. That means this is a household with two individuals in it. This is a financial future we are trying to avoid. The best way to avoid this is to start making money in several industries at once, therefore we are not reliant on one pay check alone.
Here are four reasons why I think you should have a side hustle besides the other reasons I’ve already mentioned.
- A side hustle will allow you to save more in a shorter period of time. This is great for people in debt or trying to acquire money for a specific purpose.
- A side hustle gives you options. You can be more flexible with your time and eventually create the lifestyle you want for yourself.
- It is less risky to start a business whilst working.
- Having a side hustle teaches you discipline and time management. These two skills will guarantee you success in the future regardless of industry
65% of self-made millionaires had three streams of income.
45% of self-made millionaires had four streams of income.
29% of self-made millionaires had five or more streams of income.
Financial intelligence and stability will be achievable if at least you can sustain a main source of income and another stream of income alongside. Once, you are able to manage these two streams of income, you can invest more into other streams and eventually become financially free before you know it.
